Think about headboard height & room scale:

High headboards make a strong feature in large rooms. Low-profile frames suit rooms with lower ceilings.

A standard UK double bed measures 4ft6 × 6ft3 (135 x 190 cm). It’s wider than a single but much less bulky than a king or super king. To check fit, measure the room and subtract the space needed for wardrobes and bedside tables.

Leave at least 60–70 cm of clearance around the bed where possible for easy movement and to use drawers or bedside access. Use our on-page filters to narrow beds by size and storage type.

Pick an ottoman if you need maximum, one-piece storage for big items like duvets, suitcases and boxes. Ottomans lift up using gas pistons and reveal storage across the full base.

Choose drawer divans if you want easy, everyday access to clothes and linens without lifting the mattress. If your bed hugs a wall, side-drawer access might be limited - choose foot-end drawers or an ottoman instead.
